In-Person / Hybrid Meeting details:
All meetings are in-person and online meetings. In-person meetings will be located at the Epicenter Sports Center located at 3215 Coffey Lane, Santa Rosa, CA.  Use the first door, closest to Piner Road. There will be greeters at the door to guide you.

–> Please note that you NEED TO MAKE A RESERVATION IN ADVANCE so we have a proper count.  Payments received by Saturday will be considered for the upcoming meeting.  Payments after that will be for the following meeting.

Opening Ceremonies:

Pete Lescure led us as we recited the Pledge of Allegiance and Four Way Test. For his reflection he held up a mirror to show us that we are the reflection of Rotary.

Sunshine Report:

Norm and Bev Owen send their greetings. They are dealing with their age-related aches and pains, but otherwise doing well.

Livestock Auction Report:

Steve Olson and Sam McMillan were at the Sonoma County Fair this weekend to buy 2 lambs and 2 pigs. Bidding was high! They had a budget of $10,000 and just barely came under. Tough to do when former member Guy Fieri was out to support the kids too (see The Press Democrat article). We may need to pass the hat to pay for the butchering and packaging costs. Once it is all done a social will be arranged to taste and auction of the meat.

August Birthdays:

Keven Brown and Mary Graves were at it again with another fun prize the August birthdays. Vicki Hardcastle, Bill Crowley, Sam McMillan, and Bill Hatcher were here today, each getting a 2022 desk calendar. Nice! I wonder what they will bring next month.

Doug Johnson Reception:

It was this Saturday at Ann and Jeff Gospe’s house at 3:00pm. People brought appetizer’s side dishes, and desserts to share.

Kris made a very nice introduction and thank you.  She thanked Doug for being with us all through the past year.  Covid made his job more difficult, but he was always there for us.  Too bad he cannot do a “do over,” not that he would want to, but we would not mind!  It is nice that we can have him back at our club meetings.  The knowledge that he has gained as District Governor will be a great benefit to our club.

100^th Birthday Celebration:

It is December 3, 2021. Tickets are for sale now. Do not wait until the last minute to buy the tickets. We have a limited capacity at the Santa Rosa Golf and Country Club. You do not want to miss this fun event.

Giro d’Wine Country:

Sponsor packages are available. The goal is for each of us to find one sponsor, not in the club, to be a $500.00 sponsor. Also, Sign Up Genius will be available soon. Keep September 25 open to volunteer that day.

Raffle:

This week the pot was up to $87.00. Susan Nowacki’s ticket was pulled, but she did not get the blue marble. The pot rolls over.

Club Assembly:  What the board members do and what kind of help they are looking for.

Julia Parranto oversees all things membership. Mathew Henry is the membership chair. There is also the Red Badge Committee, Rotary information, retention, and marketing/public relations. Ginny Cannon and Nicole Le are involved with the Red Badgers and retention. We all are part of the membership committee.

Mary Graves oversees club meetings. That includes the invocation and pledge, birthdays (Keven Brown), sunshine (Ginny Cannon) and programs (Susan Nowacki).

Diane Moresi oversees fund raising. Tony Roehrick oversees the Giro d’Wine Country and we are all on that committee. She would love some ideas for more mini raffles and other fund raisers to supplement the Giro d’Wine Country. She also is our go-to person for Global Grants and District Grants.

Ann Gospe oversees socials, the Rotary magazine, and the Historian. She would really love someone to set up and oversee the social committee. There are a lot of helpers, but she needs a person in charge. Ann is also looking for a new Historian to start January 1^st. Mark Burchill has done it for many years, but it is time for a new person. Mark is willing to mentor/train the new person.

Pete Lescure oversees Records and Outreach. That includes the bulletin, photography, website, and social media. Kris Anderson has been doing the bulletin, social media, and some of the photography. Nicole Le and Diane Moresi have been photographers. Richard Lazovick does the website. Kris needs to have several people help with the bulletin. Thus far Kim Murphy, Carolyn Fassi and Craig Meltzner say they will help Kris (she is very thankful!).

Casey Carter oversees Member Involvement. That includes buying the poinsettias and baking cookies for Vigil Light Senior Apartments in December, the Veteran’s program that the Rotary and Kiwanis clubs do jointly in November, Christmas bell ringing for the Salvation Army in December, the Hands-On Committee, and Disability Awareness. It looks like Ginny Cannon will be heading the Poinsettias, Paul Hamilton will do the Vets program, we will ask Randy Hartt to lead us in Bell Ringing once he gets his red badge, Charlie Howard-Gibbon oversees the Hands-On committee. There is not a chair for the disability committee, but by default, that is William Rousseau as he is overseeing the Disability Luncheon during District Conference.

Andrea Geary oversees our Youth Programs. This includes the Childrens Christmas Party at the Nutcracker, High School Recognitions, Interact and Ryla, Third Grade Dictionaries and the New Gen Program. Andrea reports that the Nutcracker is in flux due to Covid. Ryan Thomas oversees the High School Recognitions, Looking for Interact and RYLA chairs, Ted Wilmsen oversees the Dictionaries and New Gen is also in flux.

Dave Berman oversees Vocational Services. This includes Youth in Agriculture, the Public Safety Awards, and the new Healthcare Awards. I think we can say that Steve Olson and Sam McMillan are the leads for the Youth in Agriculture. As for the awards luncheons, it sounds like he may be looking for people to lead those committees.

Scott Bartley oversees International Service. This includes Rotary International programs, World Community Service, Youth Exchange, Rotary International Foundation, and the Rotary Friendship Exchange. Vickie Hardcastle tracks our donations so that we get proper recognition. World Community Service is a strong committee with Jose Guillen in the lead. They are actively looking for international projects that can be funded by our club. Youth Exchange took a hiatus due to Covid and it looks like it will be another year before this program is running.

As for the rest of the board:  Ray Giampaoli is President, Kris Anderson is President-Elect, Debi Zaft is Secretary, Karen Ball is the Treasurer, Robert Pierce is the Sergeant at Arms, Jeff Kolin is Past President, Ann Gospe is President Elect Nominee and Paul Hamilton is our liaison to the Rotary Club of Santa Rosa Foundation. If you are interested in any of these committees your involvement is welcome! Please contact one of the directors and they will get you on the committee(s) of your choice. Remember, “Many hands make light work.”
