Program
Holly Garretson introduced Cordell Stillman of Sonoma Clean Power. Mr. Stillman shared information about Sonoma Clean Power which operates all electricity in Sonoma except for those who choose to opt out and stick with PG&E. Mendocino was added at their request recently. SCP is trying to address global climate change in a small way by offering more renewable energy to it’s customers with 87% of power generation being carbon free.
Mr. Stillman then described the various power options available to SCP customers. SCP also offers clean power kits to customers. Induction cooktops are offered on loan for customers to try out.
He discussed Advanced Energy Rebuild is another program offered to encourage energy efficient, all electric homes. Mr. Stillman told us of a program called Gridsavvy, which is a program to incentivize use of technologies to reduce electric use during peak hours.and another program, Lead Locally, a grant research project from the California Energy Commission to test new technologies in real world application. Finally, Mr. Stillman closed by telling us of the new Advanced Energy Center, which will be housed in the old Stanroy Music Ctr. location near Russian River Brewing Company.
In Memory Of Yale
Yale Abrams, President 2004-05, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday August 21,2019. Yale was an incredibly generous man who always made himself available to help others. He was an awesome Rotarian role model who lead the life of ‘service above self’ and followed the ‘Four Way Test’ in his business and in his personal life.
Yale, besides being a past president, served on the Hands-On Committee, Red Badge Committee, District Awards chair, Program committee and any time someone asked for help he’d raised his hand. He spread friendship, honesty, and fellowship with a smile and wonderful sense of humor. He was a man you couldn’t say no to.
Yale was active in other organizations outside Rotary, but every Wednesday we were very blessed to have him with us. Yale and his wife, Terry, recently celebrated their 50th anniversary. Yale was a man who loved, respected and sincerely cherished his Terry all those years. It was great when he would bring her to lunch. They always brought us contagious smiles.
Yale my friend, we will miss the ticket origami you would throw at us at the rowdy table, screening my jokes before I read them, and always having solid advice for whoever asked for it.
You leave a hole in our hearts by being gone, but it’s filled with memories of a man who walked and talked what he preached.
Thank you for all you did for Rotary and especially mankind. Your footprints will always be in the sand for others to follow.
