Annette O’Kelley
Agriculture/ Career Technical Education and the County Fair:
Community Awareness and Student Benefits
Annette O’Kelley has dedicated her life to agricultural education as a teacher, mentor and community leader. In 2015, O’Kelley retired from her 34-year career in the classroom, holding teaching positions at both Santa Rosa & Elsie Allen high schools. The classroom provided her the opportunity to teach the basics of agriculture while encouraging them to engage in community service, public speaking and leadership.
O’Kelley was raised on a ranch in Santa Rosa near her family’s Lawson’s Corner at Hwy 12 and Melita Road. She was a member of Rincon Valley and later Kenwood 4-H clubs. In high school, she joined the FFA at Santa Rosa High School.
Annette is very involved in the local community/ ag industry. She has served as a Director for the Sonoma County Fair for the past 18 years. And served as their President in 2006. In addition, Annette has been honored with numerous awards, such as:
FFA – Honorary American Farmer,
California Agricultural Teachers’ Association – Teacher of Excellence

Program
Elena Traboulsi, who is in the process of joining our Club, and Michael Carter accompanied Homebound CEO Tom O’Brien for today’s presentation. Tom, who is a 1998 graduate of Cardinal Newman, began by explaining the premise of Homebound, which pulls together experts to more quickly and efficiently rebuild homes after the fires. He explained the process flow, which starts with helping clients get maximum insurance benefits, all the way to a ten-year warranty at the end of the project.
Homebound is able to bring in architects, vetted general contractors and other professionals from out of area using economy of scale to speed up the process. These include top line builders. Homebound is coordinating with the county to facilitate housing for the contracting teams, while many are willing to commute long distances for the work.
